Gypsy is a 2 year old mini llama.

We live on a small farm in Franklin County. We love the simple traditional life style. Although, today it is much harder to live at a slow pace we strive to keep as much simplicity in our lives as possible. It is a great pleasure to see new lambs and llamas arrive and watch them grow and produce us the fiber to hand weave beautiful clothing designs.

We raise sheep and llamas for their fiber. We have tried many different kinds of sheep. But, we have finally decided to stay with the merino. This is a much sought after wool. It is very warm yet very soft. It can be used for anything from lace items to hiking items. The wool is very lofty and keeps you from sweating this keeps you from getting chilled as easy.

We shear the sheep in March or April . As each sheep is shorn we sort there wool into separate piles according to overall quality of the fiber. The wool is then ready to be washed, carded, spun and hand woven. It is at this time the beautiful texture takes form and you see the beauty of the wool.

Gypsy is our mini llama. She is about the sweetest thing on the farm. Her fiber is so soft and shiny. This is a new venture for the farm but we are sure there are more minis in our future. Gypsy's fiber is hand clipped and only the best of the fiber is kept for spinning and hand weaving.

When we wrote this article in 2005 in the above paragraph we mentioned wanting more llamas Well Rhapsody another mini female llama has joined us. We are now breeding her and Gypsy to two handsome male mini llamas and hope that next year 2008 we will have baby mini llamas. Keep looking.

Flax is another fiber that is raised on the farm. We plant it in the spring and pull it sometime around May. Processing flax into linen is very labor intense. We felt due to the history of flax it was important to try and keep the knowledge and use of linen available to others. We love the fresh clean feel of linen. I am sure you will love the linen clothing and other designs we have made for you.

We hope you feel the blessing and traditional comforts from the finest fiber products that the Yarn Farm has to offer.

Proverbs 31:19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

Proverb 31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto merchants.

Proverb 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates
